Scentsy Website Header Block

If you haven’t read my blog post on how to add the jCarousel of product to your Scentsy website, you should check that one out first. This post is about how to add a information block at the top of your Scentsy website with your picture and information. This post assumes that you are using the jCarousel code as well.
To add the information block at the top of your website, look for the <h2>Scentsy Multipacks </h2> in the original code. Your block of information will need to go directly above that line.
The text-block below is the code for adding your picture to the left with your email address and phone below the picture, and then a block of text to the right. The image I have is 150 pixels wide. If you want a larger image, you will need to adjust the percent of the left column (currently 20%) and the right column (currently 80%) appropriately. The width of the entire box is 845 pixels.
You can add more contact information beneath your phone by adding a <br> tag (which means line break)and then follow it the information you want on that line.
The text-block below is for information, without the left and right columns. You can put this block at the very end of your jCarousel code to add information below your Scentsy products.
If you do use an image, you will need to upload your image to an external website, like Flickr or ImageShack, and then paste in the URL of the image, like this – http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3474/3348684986_0800d20a22_m.jpg
This textbox below is the header block with the full jCarousel so you don’t have to insert the new code into it.

Thanks Andrena
Your site looks great! To get your image to work, change that URL from http://www.flickr.com/photos/40606661@N08/3730282853/ to http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3136/3730282853_d4c67a47a9.jpg
You want it to just be the jpg image, not the web page it links to on flickr.

I cannot get the information box to add to my site correctly. Before I add the code the carousel works great. When I add this code, everything is gone from my site. I’m so confused!

It looks like you got it to work. The issue could be what browser you were using to enter the code with. It might be easier to put both pieces of code into notepad, fix the text how you want it to be, and then paste it all together into the Scentsy site. I use Safari to avoid the Scentsy editor from messing up my code when I go back into it.

Hi Heather–
This is great! You are the best!
My question is I would like to use the scentsy links above on my website. How do I do that?
Thanks–

Thank you so much, Heather! I appreciate you making it easy to do!
I have one suggestion–it would be nice for the customers if the warmers were listed in their groups (like in the catalog)–especially with the plug-ins. It would be easier for people to find what they are looking for.
Thank you AGAIN!

You’re welcome.
Yes that would make it easier. I will rearrange it when the fall catalog comes out.

When i go to click on event, it just takes me to the shop online…and not the event where it would show the hostess.

When I click on it on your website, it takes me to your calendar of events.

Hi Heather,
i can’t thank you enough for doing this. There are other consultants charging to do this. Any way I was wondering if you are going to update the warmers to show that they are going to be discountied and same with the scents.
Thanks again

Not a problem, especially when once you put it all together, it’s really just a copy and paste job for anyone else to use it.
I updated the pricing and will also do something to show they’re going to be discontinued too. I’m surprised at the number of items that will be gone. Wow!

Hi Heather,
I was just on my page and when I click on shop local events the link does not bring up my calendar. It brings up the shopping page. Not sure what’s going on but can you tell me how to fix it. I have 3 online events going right now and my customers are really new to the online events and they are emailing left n right that it’s not working.
thanks

Have you downloaded Safari to use for editing your webpage with? It seems that most people are able to resolve any problem by doing this. Using other web browsers will strip out some of the code you put in.

Hi Heather,
It’s me again! I’m still having a problem adding the Header Block to my site. When I deleted everything and then added it alone, it came out just okay. And then when I added the jCarousel, the Header Block disappeared. And I did change my browser to Safari. I’m still not understanding what I’m doing wrong.

Try the one that says “This textbox below is the header block with the full jCarousel so you don’t have to insert the new code into it.”

IF I COULD MAKE THESE LETTERS ANY BIGGER, I WOULD! THANK YOU SO, SO, SO, MUCH FOR YOUR HELP, PATIENCE, ENCOURAGEMENT AND SUGGESTIONS! I want to scream with joy but I know you can’t hear. But I am! Now I only have to download a decent picture of myself to go on the website. So be aware, I will probably be coming back to you for help with that so I don’t ruin anything. But THANK YOU SO, SO, SO MUCH!!!

Hi Heather – Can you take a look at my site and tell me why my greeting is below my picture and not next to it? In Safari it is next to it but not in Explorer. Do I need to shrink my picture?

Thanks for stealing our code, Heather. You weren’t smart enough to think of something yourself so you stole our code then published it for everyone else.
I like how you passed the solution off as your own. “this is how I did jCarousel:”
No, this is how you stole someone else’s jCarousel code and claimed it as your own.

Really? After you encrypt your code, despite the fact anyone can get it from sorgalla.com and follow the “Carousel with dynamic content loading via JavaScript example”? Of course I know who you are. You’re the one who used GPL software that probably took you a few hours to configure for the Scentsy products and then it’s a mere copy and paste job for each person you charge $150 to. I saw quite a few posts in the forum from people who had questions about it, and as you know, it’s not that difficult to set it up with the following example: http://sorgalla.com/projects/jcarousel/examples/dynamic_javascript.html
So yes, I can understand why you would be upset. But really is it a surprise to you that someone made it public when the code is free to begin with? Should I post on the jquery mailing list that you’re claiming the code as your own?

I noticed some people have commented on the update for Fall/Winter Catalog. I just put the jcarousel on my webpage today(by the way I love it!:)but It does not have any of the new fall stuff and still has the spring stuff that has been discontinued.
Just wondering how to update it.
Thanks

Heather! “Thank you”, doesn’t even begin to cover it!!! I was beginning to wonder what I had gotten myself into, and then I found this site on the Scentsy Forum. You have made it so easy, and I (technology repelling self) really appreciate it. I have three questions:
1. I can’t get my picture to show up on the Header Block.
2. How do I use the links above? I have no idea where to put them.
3. What does “Click here to shop as part of a local event” mean?
I just signed up yesterday, and I really appreciate all of your help and time.

Thank you for doing this! I’m new to Scentsy, and I repel technology. I posted a few questions earlier, but I don’t see them on here, and now I have a new dilemma that I discovered, so I’ll post my questions again.
1. While using IE my web address scentsy.com/marisaleigh (the one that will be used the most, I’m sure) does not work correctly, but scentsy.com/45135 does work. In Safari both work correctly.
1. How do I fix the one in IE ending in “marisaleigh”?
2. I can’t get my pic to show? Can you please help?
3. How do I make the font size larger in the header box?
4. How do I post the links above? I have no idea where to put them.
I know I have several questions, and I would REALLY appreciate it if you could help me. I just signed up yesterday, and although extremely overwhelmed, I’m also very excited!! Thanks again Heather! This is very kind and selfless of you!
Thanks,
Marisa

Hi, again! I am having a problem adding a hyperlink to my FaceBook group. I have the link up there, but when I click on it, instead of taking me to http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=110784772828, it instead takes me to http://www.scentsy.com/“http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=110784772828″.
